What is Merino?
Merino is super lightweight, soft, non-itchy, non-clammy, warm in the cold and cool in the heat, and has a miraculous ability to resist odour. Because it was made in the mountains rather than in a petrochemical laboratory. Merino wool fibre is naturally renewable, recyclable and biodegradable

Great pair!

"I’ve purchase numerous socks from Ice Breaker and they’ve lasted a long time. Durable quality and doesn’t retain odour. Love them!"

— Darryl (5/5)

Comfortable and warm, weak stitching

"Icebreaker comfort but almost all of my pairs suffered stitching failure of the upper cuff. Some were purchased before the lifetime warranty was recinded and Icebreaker erased older purchase histories."

— Steven (3/5)

Quality is going down over years.

"If my memory serves me right the merino wool percentage used to be higher. Now the Hike+ is only 49% merino wool and 51% plastic. Before the socks were smoother but now there is "ribs" on the surface which creates these stripes of swelling on your skin when you wear them for long periods of time. Things are suppoed to get better over time but I feel as though the quality has only gone down over the last several years I have bought Icebreaker items. When I trained in the army 5 years ago I had a pair of Icebreaker socks that also had some thick ribs/stripes around the ankles and wearing it with boots damaged by legs as it causes lines of swelling. Socks should have smoothe surfaces that lay flat against the skin, there shouldn't be multiple lines with edges that causes swelling."

Perfekte Passform und Tragekomfort.

"Perfekte Passform und Tragekomfort. Die Socken bleiben in Form und auch Geruchsneutral."

— Dennis K. (5/5)

Perfect socks for hike and work

"a good quality socks as usual. one star off for less thickness. the previous version was thicker"

— Valeriy Z. (4/5)

Socks have changed

"This new version is not the same as you have gotten in the past. Much less elastic in them now and it just feel thin and light. The previous version you would be impressed by the sheer weight when you picked it up and the warmth and comfort did not disappoint you after a long day working outside in the winter. If you wear them in a snug fitting boot they will absolutely get pulled off inside the old version would stay on your foot just fine it just had such a copious amount of elastic in them. No sag even after years of abuse! The old version was much thicker and really gave you an incredible amount of warmth and cushion for your work boots. You wont find that with this newer version. Much like other outdoor brands I'm sure these changes were done as a cost saving measure and it sucks. Icebreaker has lost me until the next version comes. The new version does nothing to set its self apart from cheaper wool socks found in big stores and I would return them if I could."
