Ideal Hiking Pants

"I managed to snag the last pair of these in my size at my local Icebreaker store in the Obsidian colour, and I'm so happy I did. It is immensely difficult as a very narrow-hipped, short-torsoed woman to find hiking pants (not leggings) that sit nicely and do not have too much fabric or bunching around the hips and crotch area. When you're working really hard, having extra fabric, twisting, bunching, etc. is unbearable, so pants need to be cut just right for one's unique figure. For me, these are incredibly comfortable - they are made from breathable, natural fibres (so rare), have a mid/high-ish rise without being annoyingly high (i. e. they do not dig into your rib cage), allow for excellent mobility, and end right below the ankle just as they should. I can do the deepest of lunges and feel no restriction in my movement. They do not fall down yet are miraculously not restrictive in the waist, so when I'm breathing heavily I don't feel claustrophobic or uncomfortable in the slightest. I am 5'6'' and 115 lbs with a 32 bust, 26 waist, and 34. 5 hips with a very short torso and long legs. A size 26 fits me perfectly."

Comfortable and cool pants

"The pants fit me well. I bought a size 28 and they are comfortably slightly loose. I'm 5'5"", 120 lbs, slender build. The fabric is the best part, they are very cool in the heat and generally super comfortable. I can be super active in them and they move with me. I wish they came in a lighter color like khaki which would be more practical for the summer. I would love a long pair of shorts in the same cut and fabric - long as in over the knee like capri's, or even just a long inseam like 9"". Again, the main winner here is the fabric, the cotton wool blend, fabulous!"

Well made but not for me too much fabric

"These trousers are well made - but then, given the price, they should be. They didn't work for me as there was too much fabric bunching just below the back waistband - I tried a 29 and a 30, and the same happened. I also didn't like the leg/cargo pocket or the 'icebreaker' branding. I wanted these primarily for travel, so they needed more than one purpose. I wanted trousers I could wear for travel in the day and for casual. To me, the side cargo pocket and the branding made these always look like 'outdoor trousers', and for the price, I was looking for something that fitted perfectly and had a bit more versatility."

These are a nice looking pair of hiking pants.

"I haven't actually used them yet, but I am going to take them to do the Camino in, I'm hoping they'll have the same anti stink qualities as any other wool I've bought. They seem to fit true to size."

I'm surprised I really like them!

"I ordered these with a good dose of skepticism since I'm 5'10"" and pants don't usually fit. The size guide suggested a 30 but I they were pretty puffy and I ordered a 29, which fit very well. Perhaps a smidge tighter on the waist that I would like (though they have stretched a bit while wearing) but excellent through the hips and upper legs. I'm a 39"" hip - 157 lb at my height. They are lightweight and airy and my daughter says they look great. I like the zip pocket on the leg and the deeper pockets at the hip. I'm glad they fit so well since I want to move away from nylon type fabrics. They're a win! And they are *just* long enough - which is kind of amazing. I'm used to wearing floods unless it's a specific tall size."

These are great!

"I took a chance and bought these at full price. First, I am 5'11""ish and 210 pounds, so not a tiny lady! I bought the size 32. I put them on and they are a really nice piece. The fabric is really nice, it's like a crispy cotton fabric with a touch of the wool texture. The fit is perfect, and the length is, amazingly, absolutely perfect on me. There are so many pockets! I love it! I am going to wear these on a 5 week Camino trek. I don't find them particularly stretchy as they are described, but I can sit comfortably in them. They look nice and they feel nice, I'm excited to bring them with me on my trip! Thank you Icebreaker!!"
