Borderline Magic
"I bought a sale shirt (not this one, but the same material) to use for sports. I sweat. A lot. Easily soak through the shirt in an hour. It wicks amazingly well and doesn't cling. No, it doesn't defy the laws of physics and dissipate moisture into the atmosphere as if it didn't exist. My shirt gets heavy and sopping wet. But the magic happens afterwards at home. I hang the shirt, it dries fairly quickly, and smells like it was just washed. I have no idea how. I've even tried wearing it multiple times in a row and the thing just won't stink. I have lots of IB tees and this one's performance really is borderline magic to me."

"The silky smooth feel of the fabric is fantastic and the lightweight is perfect for hot n humid summer days outdoors, it’s quickly become my go-to. The odor resistance on long day hikes has been excellent, it dries quickly and it’s altogether been an outstanding alternative to the poly blends that I’ve ditched from my wardrobe. Bought this hoping it’d check all boxes for my thru hike of the Adirondack NPT in September and I do believe I’ve found my shirt. 👍👍"

Versatile Backcountry Staple
"I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review, and I made sure to put it through the ringer. This became my go-to shirt for all outdoor activities: 3 camping trips, 3 mountain peaks, and the gym, ranging 30-75 degrees. The fabric is thin, light, and breathable but robust enough to scrape against trees without issue. On warmer days, the 125 weight material is perfect. In high humidity, exposed fabric wicks and dries quickly and holds warmth when a cold breeze comes. It layers very effectively in colder temps. Being breathable, it pairs well with active insulation to deliver dry warmth. The softness makes it great for outdoor activity and casual wear. I slept in it while camping and wore it to a brewery after finishing one of my hikes- and being wool, it didn’t stink. It washes well without any pilling and maintains its size. As a larger guy (6’2” ~240lb) I sized up to XXL knowing that I wanted a baggier fit; Icebreaker XLs fit me snug- perfect for baselayers."

Less sweat and less stink
"I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I've really enjoyed wearing this ice breaker shirt for my runs. It's very breathable and helps keep the moisture away from my body. After wearing it on a couple runs, I wore this shirt for a 14 mile trail race to really put it to the test. It was a hot and humid day and the shirt helped keep me cool mile after mile. I experienced no chafing and it felt so soft on my body. I think because of the antimicrobial nature of the merino wool, I didn't smell nearly as bad as I feared I would and was able to enjoy the post race festivities without fear of grossing people out."

Great fit and performance
"Used this first on many hikes and runs. The wool did its job with keeping me cool amd dry. The fit is the highlight of this shirt. Fits directly against your skin and slim. Only con is the wool is rough on the skin compared to other brands I have tried. Definitely try this shirt on to make sure you like the fit. If you do, this is a great option. Seems very durable."

Merino That Actually Breathes: A Trail-Tested Revi
"I tested this shirt across many outings including trail runs (6–9 miles) and hikes (8–12 miles), in temps ranging from 58°F at dawn to 82°F by midday, including wind and light drizzle at elevation. Performance in motion was the standout. Breathability was excellent even at high effort, sweat moved away from skin quickly without any cling, and arm mobility was completely unrestricted. Temperature regulation impressed me too, it offered just enough warmth on cold morning starts and transitioned smoothly as effort ramped up, without trapping heat. Fit was true to size with a slightly athletic cut that layers cleanly under a softshell without bunching. Next-to-skin comfort is exceptional, with no itch at all, which is worth emphasizing for anyone skeptical of merino. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review."

Cool with room for improvement
"★★★★☆ I tested the Icebreaker 125 Sphere Cool-Lite Short Sleeve Tee on trail runs ranging from the mid 60s up into the low 80s. Overall, it’s a really comfortable shirt that does a lot well, but I think there’s still room for improvement when it comes to hot-weather performance. The standout feature for me was how soft the fabric feels. This is one of the softer running tees I’ve worn and it’s comfortable both dry and soaked with sweat. Once I got sweating, the shirt actually felt noticeably cooler as the fabric wetted out, which helped during warmer climbs and exposed sections of trail. Odor resistance was also excellent. After multiple runs it stayed far fresher than a typical synthetic tee, which is one of the big advantages of merino blends like this. That said, for a shirt marketed toward keeping you cool, I honestly think it could be lighter. In temps pushing into the 80s, I found myself wishing for either a thinner fabric, mesh panels, or some sort of added ventilation. It performs well enough, but it doesn’t disappear on your body the way the best hot-weather running shirts do. One other thing: if I were buying it myself, I wouldn’t choose black. A dark color kind of defeats the purpose of a shirt designed for hotter conditions since it absorbs more heat in direct sun. Overall, this is a super comfortable and versatile tee with great softness and odor resistance, but I think Icebreaker could improve the warm-weather temperature regulation a bit more. Warm Weather Versatility!!
"Thanks Icebreaker for giving me the Merino 125 shirt to test in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been an Icebreaker fan for quite a few years now as their winter baselayers and ski socks are always my go to for their durability, comfort, and overall performance so I was excited to try out the Merino 125 shirt. While it wasn’t designed specifically for mountain biking, it works so well on the bike. 1. I found the fit to be a bit more athletic than the 150 and 200 long sleeve base layer models that I have for the winter. Typically with the winter product I’m between a M and L. The 125 is a size large and I don’t think I’d want to drop to a size medium. The size large fits well but I like that it’s a more athletic fit so there isn’t extra fabric to get caught on things and it integrated well with my hydration pack. 2. Shorter sleeve length. This is so often overlooked and fantastic for mountain biking and other outside activities. So many mountain bike shirts have sleeves that are to long and baggy which get caught on things and integrate poorly with a hydration pack. These sleeves are not compression by any means but the fit your upper arm nicely and don’t fall even close to the elbow giving more freedom of movement without having the worry of the sleeve snagging on something like a branch or rock. 3. Bottom splits. Such a small thing but so helpful. The bottom splits not only let the shirt sit well at my waist, but it also allowed it to integrate well with both my bike shorts (bib liners) and a hydration pack. So often shirts are narrow at the waist which cause them to ride up and fight with your hydration pack. These splits combined with just a slighter overall length and athletic cut caused zero issues when wearing with a backpack. 4. Performance. Our spring here in Western Colorado has been a wild one so I got to wear this shirt on numerous occasions in a number of weather conditions. From hot sunny afternoons, to yesterday where it was crazy windy and cooler I found the merino 125 to keep me pretty comfortable. It breathes well on higher intensity efforts but when the temperature is on the cooler side it does admirable job keeping your core temperature consistent (this is not a cold weather fabric though). As with the 150 and 200 weights from Icebreaker, the most impressive attribute I found is how quickly the fabric dries. While it gets wet when you sweat, it dries quick as the intensity drops to keep you feeling comfortable. The Merino 125 is not your typical t-shirt, you can tell a ton of design went into this product. From the cut, to the fabric, this shirt is designed to excel in all things outside from mellow to active in warm to very warm temperatures. Keep in mind it’s more of an athletic cut than Icebreaker base-layers so if you are in-between sizes, I may recommend going with the larger size. I’m 5’10 and about 175 and I’m wearing a size large in the pictures."

Wonderful product for running
"I tested this icebreaker layer during multiple outdoor runs, walks, and day-to-day activities in varying spring temperatures, and it consistently performed well across different conditions. During active use, the breathability and moisture management stood out immediately. Even during higher-effort runs, the fabric never felt heavy or overly damp, and it did a great job releasing heat while still providing enough warmth for cooler mornings. Mobility was excellent, and the material moved naturally without feeling restrictive or bulky. Temperature regulation was one of the strongest aspects of this piece. It handled changing conditions extremely well, especially during runs where temperatures shifted throughout the workout. Early on, it provided enough warmth to stay comfortable, but as my pace increased and the day warmed up, it continued to breathe effectively without overheating. Compared to many synthetic layers I’ve used, this merino blend felt noticeably more balanced and adaptable. The fit felt true to size with a comfortable athletic cut that worked well both on its own and layered over a lightweight shirt. The material was soft against the skin and remained comfortable throughout longer periods of movement without irritation or rubbing. It also maintained a clean fit without stretching out during activity. In terms of durability and construction, the overall quality felt premium. The stitching held up well through repeated wear and washes, and the fabric maintained its softness and shape over time. It feels like a piece designed for consistent outdoor use rather than something that will quickly wear down after a season. What makes this product unique is the combination of natural comfort and performance. Compared to other performance tops I’ve worn, the merino blend offers a more natural feel while still managing sweat, temperature, and odor extremely well. It works equally well for running, hiking, layering, or casual everyday wear, which makes it one of the more versatile performance layers I’ve used recently."
